Best Low Fat/Low Carb Shop Ever!
A great new ice cream spot has opened in Broward County. D'lites Emporium located at 1223 S. Federal Highway in Pompano Beach is a low carb/low fat ice cream shop that also sells low carb/low fat bagels, breads, cheesecakes, muffins, brownies, cookies, crackers, chips ect... This shop is not your everyday run of the mill ice cream/yogurt shop; this is real ice cream without the fat and sugar. There is no other shop selling real soft serve ice cream like this anywhere. The ingredients contain no sugar, no artificial sweeteners and about 2 grams of fat for small cup or 4 ounces. In New York, I grew up on Long Island where Mr. Softee trolled the neighborhood with the haunting but ever so inviting tune of its truck. I miss the days when we played outside games like football, kickball, stickball and doorbell dixie, mischievous kids we were:)

I digress back to this delicious ice cream. The shop in Pompano Beach sports a warm, friendly and vibrant gold and purple interior. The tables and chairs have a nostalgic diner flair matching the painted walls. Also kewl about this spot are the pictures on the wall of famous people from different eras. Most of us were just born or not yet thought of when these people were at the height of their careers but, these people are the memorable kind. They are the ones your parents and grandparents went to movies to see or went to a concert to hear with great talent, unlike some of our recent popular celebrities’ uhum...Paris Hilton...cough.

D'lites also sells Edy's Ice cream for those of us who just don't want to give up the fat and sugar. D'lites strikes a delicate balance between those of us who choose to live healthier lifestyles and those of us who just want to eat great ice cream and snacks without the care of fat and sugar content. The owners will soon carry sugar free bulk candy and serve salads, adding to the already delicious variety of ice cream and snacks. Oh did I mention the ice cream cakes, fabulous. I would be remiss to not mention the ice cream cakes they make to order at the store. Carvel has nothing on these cakes. Since they don't have all that fat and sugar you can eat a large guilt free slice cake. Everything is alright with the world when you can eat more ice cream or ice cream cake.
For the curious they invite you to come in and sample the flavors to see what you are missing. This is no diet tasting ice cream or half the fat propaganda. The nutrition facts are on the counter for you to read for yourself. In an 8 ounce cup of ice cream (medium cup) or (2 servings) it's only 80 calories, (2) points for the weight watchers crowd and for us Carb crunchers (3) grams sugar per 4 ounces or small cup. What’s extra special about the store is that they change flavors every day. When you go in you can sample the daily doses usually (6) different ones and Always Vanilla and Chocolate for the diehards who won't stray from them. The owners call these people VC's which stands for Vanilla and Chocolate lovers only.
The flavors are yummy and the ice cream smooth and creamy. My personal favorite flavor is also a great American candy bar called Snickers. Other customers agree with me about Snickers given its popularity among them. Other delectable favorites are: Chocolate Marshmallow, White Chocolate Raspberry, Frappuccino, Cappuccino, Butterscotch, Banana, Caramel Nut Fudge and many more. There is no end to the D'lite of D'lites.
